Miss Zoe Presents: RAW!!

On Thursday morning, through the Magic of Facebook, I found out this fact:

RABBIT AWARENESS WEEK IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW!
RIGHT THIS SECOND!
You are right now in the midst of it.  Are you taken aback?  Shocked, surprised, or otherwise wowed?

I know I was.  I mean as a companion to two Wonderful Rabbits, how could I not be Aware of the fact that I am supposed to be Aware of my Rabbits on this particular week?  I suppose it's possible that I am Aware of Them pretty much all the time, and that I wake up wondering, "What are the Rabbits doing???" and then I rush down the hallway to see.  It is possible that I do that.

So, it's possible that I am already Aware of Rabbits.  It's possible.  It may also be probable.

BUT, that doesn't mean that Rabbits should not have Their Own Week.  It also doesn't mean that the World should not be made aware of Them.  In fact, the World Should Be Rocked By the Power of Rabbits.  Positively Rocked.

Consider yourself made aware.  Aware.  Rabbits want you to Know.

In Celebration of Rabbit Awareness Week (a.k.a. RAW) I thought I would share a couple of Fun Rabbit Facts and also post a video about this Important Topic.  So, here it goes.

-- The largest Rabbit Litter ever recorded had 24 Kittens (Baby Rabbits)!!!

-- A rabbit chews 120 times a minute and has 17,000 tastebuds. That's 7,000 more than humans and 15,000 more than dogs.

-- And, third, though this is not a proven fact and I can find no actual evidence of this right now, so it may not be a fact at all, but something I, myself, made up, I, for some reason, believe that Rabbits have 72 whiskers.  Why do I believe this?   (QUICK!  If you have a Rabbit, count Her/ His whiskers, stat!)

In any case....RABBITS ARE AMAZING!!

Now, Blueberry and Elizabeth Demand that you enjoy this video:

(OK, I couldn't get the video to embed its bad self, so CLICK HERE TO SEE IT!!!!)

HAPPY RABBIT WEEK!!!!

Miss Zoe Presents: Flip Friday

Blueberry has been off on this World Tour of Story Times and such.

This, we know.

So, what, you may wonder, has Elizabeth been doing while Her Rabbit Companion is off seeing the world?

It's a legitimate question. And, one We knew you would ask.

Fear not. Your question will be answered! Your curiosity will be sated!

Watch this video and see the story of Elizabeth. She has been....manufacturing something.

Is that what you suspected? Probably not, but remember-- Bunnies are Industrious.

ENJOY!

Miss Zoe Presents: Flip Friday, More Trailers

I hope you all enjoyed the Easter Bunny Trailer Movie. I was highly amused by it myself.

It occurred to me today, as the Chick was helping me to load up to YouTube the very first two trailers I made with my new iMovie 11, that I am making...trailers that precede....FULL LENGTH FEATURE FILMS. Is that what these trailers are promising? I thought to myself.

I guess the Rabbits are going to have a Busy Summer of Movie Making. We may have to attempt a larger Feature Film.

Well, in any case, these are simply trailers at this point, so there's no need for me to get ahead of myself. Right?

Right!

Now, pop some corn, and enjoy the trailers.

HAPPY WEEKEND!!

IT IS STILL RABBIT WEEK!

That's right!!

It is STILL RABBIT WEEK!!!!

What does that mean?

Well, it means.....
THIS!!

AND, THIS!!!

AND, THIS!!!

BUT, OH, wait, there's more...

Look at this gift we received from a friend....it is Rabbit Currency that Stars....
President Blueberry!!!
(You do know that Blueberry is President, right?  Well, in case you forgot, review that here.)

In any case, this could truly save the U.S. economy. Chocolate Money Featuring a Bunny could actually save the world.

At least, that's the General Consensus in the Rabbit Room.

What do you think?

BUNNY WEEK!

There are all kinds of holidays that you could be celebrating this time of year.

Easter.  Passover.  Ostara.  Bunny Week.

You probably know what is celebrated in the Rabbit Room... especially this week when we have This Special Guest added into our Rabbit Population:

I guess that Chester's a little busy for pictures, but you get the idea.

At any rate, we, here in the Rabbit Room want to wish you a Happy Week of Thinking About Bunnies.  If you do nothing else to mark the events of the week, Celebrate This:

And, This:

OK, that's enough for now.  Now, leave the Rabbits in Peace.  You may come back and visit again later.

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Hello, Thursday.

I have a lot to write about. I do.

I have made art lately.

I have been playing my ukulele like crazy.

I have accompanied Miss Blueberry to Her Exceptional Storytime, where She became a Star!

I have made Limoncello. Well, I am still making it. It is steeping.

I have petted A LOT of Rabbits. Well, two. And a LOAD of cats! Well, four.

We, here at the Lilypad, also had a house guest over the weekend: Lisa, formerly of Nerdy Renegade News was here to stay for a few days, and that was wonderful and fun!

All these things have happened, and I have not written much about them at all.

I will, though. I promise! And, soon!

For today though, here's what you are getting:

This is a small version of me (circa 1975) on the toilet.

OMG!!!!

I KNOW, RIGHT??

SHOCKING!!!!

So, stay tuned for Friday.  There will be a movie.  And, then, hopefully next week, there will be a bit more effort on the part of these Rabbits to write something substantial!   So long until Friday!

A Word About Italian Things

It occurred to me yesterday as I was feeding the cats (who knows why I made this association) that I never actually finished telling about my trip to Italy.

Huh?

How did that happen?  I guess there were lots of interruptions.

 One of the Interruptions

Also, Animals were going to Sparkle Pond, and though we try no to think of that as a sad thing, though we miss them sooooooo much, I think it put me a little more off track than I like to be.

Consequently, I did not finish writing about my Italian Excursion.

So, today, as a bit of an Italian Excursion, I thought I would tell you this:  I have begun a batch of my very own Limoncello.

YAY!!!

I brought some back with me from the Cinque Terra.  IT WAS DELICIOUS!

Well, and I've always wanted to make Limoncello.  I'm not sure why.  But we were at the grocery store the other day, and I saw some Meyer Lemons, and so we got them.  And now, there is Limoncello brewing in a jar.

A bird's eye view-- see all the lemon zest in there?

It is finished with step one.  Soon, we will continue to step two (probably over the weekend).

Who wants to try some??

Hmmmmmm....maybe someone already did.....

Wednesday Baby Rabbit Update

Elizabeth has lived here for almost two months now.   I thought I should write a wee update about Her progress.
"TWO MONTHS??  REALLY??"

First let me say this:  She is Big.  Like, bigger than you would think when you hear the words "Baby Rabbit."  She is really the same size as Zoe was as a full grown Bunny.  And She is not even six months old yet.  Let me be the first to say:  EEK.

Second, She has a Super Long Tail.  Before I knew Rabbits personally, I always pictured Rabbit Tails as kind of short and small and cotton bally.  But Elizabeth's tail is long, as was Zoe's before Her.

A very loooooooong tail.

A long tail, indeed.

Some other updates are as follows:

1.  She likes ALL SALAD FOODS now:

2.  She has figured out that She can squeeze through the Rabbit Gate to make Her way down the hall.

Who?  ME?

3.  She has pretty much decided that rolling is about the Best Thing Ever.  She rolls well and often.  I promise to get a video of this ASAP.  She rolls onto Her back, arms in the air, and just lays there.

4.  She loves cat toys!  Like, LOVES THEM.  Especially balls with bells in them.

And that, my friends, is the Wednesday Baby Rabbit Update.

Carry on with your day, and carry the knowledge of Elizabeth with you.

Miss Zoe Presents: Flip Friday!

This week, we thought we would bring you a Double Rabbit Movie.  That does not mean Two Rabbit Movies, it means Two Rabbits in One Movie.

Are you down with that?  I'm not sure that one is more favorable than another.  They are both Awesome.

I have to explain a bit about the Current Situation in the Rabbit Room before this video airs.  You will see both Rabbits in this movie.  DUH!  I already said you would.  But, what you will also see in this movie is a Berlin Rabbit Wall.  The Great Wall of Rabbit.  Pink Rabbit's The Wall.

Whatever you want to call it.  It's a bit of a fence.

The girls don't exactly get along swimmingly.  Little Girl Rabbits need their space.  Who doesn't?  They are fine as long as they have something in between them.  You know the story of how fences make good neighbors?  Well, that is the story here.  As long as they each have their own territory, all is peaceful.

It's all like, "There's not enough room in the Rabbit Room for the both of us," in here.

But, as long as they have a fence, it is all Ponies and Rainbows.

In the movie that follows, you will get a glimpse of The Wall, so that's why I thought explaining it was a good idea.

Here we go:

Zoe Presents: Flip Friday

Yes, it's that day again.

Friday.  Friday of the Flip variety.

That's right.  It's time for an Elizabeth Movie.  I don't think She's been in the spotlight nearly enough.  She agrees with that sentiment wholeheartedly.

I usually make the Rabbit Movies during the day.  Well, that just makes sense, doesn't it, to make movies (or hay) while the sun shines?  But the Winter can present a problem in terms of lighting.

On this particular project, Our Little Elizabeth brought in an assistant.   Namely, the Chick.  With a flashlight.  We shall call it...a SPOTLIGHT!  A spotlight on our New Little Star.

It's very Film Noir.  Prepare yourself for the Magic.  It's Rabbit Magic, Baby.

ARE YOU READY?   LET THE MAGIC BEGIN:

Happy Day of Presidents

Here in the U. S. of A, today is a day to celebrate Presidents.  I know this is true, as I have today off to do so.

And, being that I am getting paid to sit at home in this Extremely Comfortable Rabbit Chair in a Cozy Rabbit Room on a day when snow has suddenly reappeared outside after days of clear streets and sidewalks (though I have to admit, it is beautiful), I thought I should set forth a President to Celebrate.

Let us all take a moment then, to Celebrate President Blueberry, current Ruler of the Rabbit Room!

(These are recent photos from a Formal Address She gave in the Rabbit Room for a Small Audience.  Below, you can see the Small Audience:)

(The Small Audience)

And, now, onto Madame President.

Here, She is gearing up for the Big Speech.  You can see the Calm Collectedness of Her Countenance.

And, now, She is, being called out to the podium.  You can feel the rush of excitement, can you not?!?!

And the Speech begins!!!  Let us focus on Her words.  Wait....they are coming in a moment.  I think:

YES!  HERE ARE THE WORDS!!!!
 "Fourscore and yesterday,
we removed cats from the room by biting their butts.
As God is my witness, we shall bite cats again!!!"

"We shall have peace in the Rabbit Room!
Kittens and Bunnies Shall Live in Peace!"

THE CONSTITUENT WENT WILD!!!  (Well, it's possible that She actually fell asleep behind the chair, but let's not tell our Esteemed President.)

LET US CELEBRATE PRESIDENT BLUEBERRY!

LET US CELEBRATE HER MAJESTY!!!

Let's all have a carrot in Her Honor today, shall we?

Cold Days of Winter

If you live in a cold climate like we do (well, half cold, since the other half it is really warm), then you know that the cold can make you do funny things.

As I write this, it is 1 degree Fahrenheit, but it feels like -15.  It's not as cold as some places, granted, but it's still pretty cold.

One of the things the cold did to me this weekend was that it made me forgetful.  (See, I can blame the COLD!  It is a great idea!)

I had the opportunity to take part in a Mixed Media show at Glass Growers Gallery, a local Erie Art Gallery.  We went to the reception on Friday, and my plan....until I realized I forgot my camera...was to blog about the reception on Saturday.  There would pictures of smiling people having fun, pictures of my art and maybe others, pictures of the gallery, etc.

It was a Really Good Plan.

Needless to say, it did not happen.

I have three pieces in the show (one which already sold that night!  WHOO!), and they are based on my trip to Italy.  I will pop into the gallery some day this week and will take pictures of them to post.

SIGH!  See, the Heat melts the Chick's brain, and the Cold freezes mine.

(Not really.  I am just forgetful.)

Anyhow, here's a Rabbit to tide you over.

 ACTION!!  FACE CLEANING EMERGENCY!

And....The Gopher Pose (Rabbit Yoga)

Did the cuteness distract you?

I thought it would.

Stay warm!

Miss Zoe Presents: Flip Wednesday?

We know.

It is not customary procedure (or, as Pooh would say, "Customary Proseedcake") to have movies on Wednesday.

We all know this.

But, I have Two Words for you:  BABY BUNNY

Yes, Baby Bunnies require Extra Movies.

So, today, Miss Zoe Presents Two More Elizabeth Movies.

Do you have five minutes to invest in Feeling Happy and watching a Baby Bunny?

ELIZABETH SAYS, "MAKE TIME!!!!!"

You should always listen to a Baby Rabbit.  Especially One who is the Reincarnation of...

"LISTEN TO THE BABY!!!"

So, now you are ready?  Yes?

I thought so.

ZOE PRESENTS: MISS ELIZABETH!

If you are like Blueberry....
...then you are wondering how a new Rabbit suddenly ended up in the Rabbit Room!?!?!

Well, sit down and I'll tell you the tale.

After Miss Zoe went to Sparkle Pond, I was so very sad.  Blueberry was a blessing to me.  Just having a Rabbit still in the Rabbit Room was a wonderful thing.  Blueberry has not even been here for a year, but She has brought immeasurable joy.

Still, there is something about the Mini Rex that feels So Very Special to me.  I don't know if it's their velvety soft fur or their winsome personality, or what it is specifically.  It might just be that Zoe was My First Rabbit Love and She was a Mini Rex.  First loves are like that.

Yes, it's probably that.

Zoe was my First Rabbit Love, and She taught me so much about LOVE, that I thought She would eventually send another Mini Rex to take her place on the Earth.

She Adored Herself after all, so why wouldn't She?

We wanted a Rescue Bunny and a Mini Rex, but we also wanted a baby because we thought Blueberry might take to a baby better than a grown up.  Our main concern was that we didn't want to upset Blueberry.

I looked at all our local shelters, but there were hardly any bunnies, and no Mini Rex.  Next, I did a search online and found a shelter called Little Angels Animal Sanctuary about 40 minutes away in Sherman, New York that is just for BUNNIES!  (Well, I think they might also have a few random chickens, and I think a horse, and maybe a few other Animals, but it's mostly BUNNIES!)

Paula, who runs the shelter, told me she would keep an eye out for a young Mini Rex just for me.  She goes to auctions where these sweet little bunnies are NOT auctioned off to loving families, if you know what I mean.  It is hard for me to even think about.  She is often allowed to pick one animal to save out of a batch to be auctioned.  She saw Elizabeth, and knew She was for me.

I will stop the story there.  We think Zoe played a big role in bringing Elizabeth to us.  Though, I will be eternally grateful to Paula for doing the work of finding our precious new baby. (by the way, she does not solicit funds, really, but Paula does take donations if you feel so inclined and want to help needy bunnies.  She has one named Hope, who we got to meet, who needs very expensive leg surgery.  If you have some money burning a hole in your pocket....)

When we met Elizabeth, what was one of the first things we noticed?  (Look closely in her Sweet Ear)

SHE HAS LOVE TATTOOED IN HER EAR!!!  A message from Zoe.

On to a couple more pictures...

Elizabeth's Dr. Evil impression.

Elizabeth's Senior Portrait (though, of course, She hasn't started school yet!)

Elizabeth chewing a stick.  Well, look how cute it is!  Cute is not complicated.

There will be lots more Elizabeth and Blueberry to come.  Stay tuned.

Right now, I have to go hold some Rabbits!

OK, it's a little late in the day for Flip Friday, but we thought you might like to see our newest addition...
