It's Wednesday. And since I couldn't decide what to write, I decided to post a Bunch of Cats and Rabbits!!

Note:  THEY ARE ALL BLACK AND WHITE EXCEPT THE ONE.

ZOE PRESENTS: Cinematic Saturday

It's the Year of the Rabbit.  That's true.

But, we musn't forget the Other Animals who live here in the Lilypad.

Oh, no.

We musn't.

This week on ZOE PRESENTS, we see a movie that stars all of the Stars here at Lilypad.   As the movie begins, you'll find that Miss Blueberry has really stepped up Her acting from last weeks "Rest-ie."  As for the....Others...I couldn't get them to do anything that could officially be called jumping or leaping or anything, but at least there's a wee bit of Activity.

That's all we ask for.

It stars their new Cat Tree, which has proved to be more popular than we ever would have imagined.  Like, so WAAAAAAAAY more popular than we ever would have imagined.  Like, WOW!

Rabbit Break

In past weeks, I've been writing a lot about Italy. 

"Italy this.  Italy that. WHAT ABOUT US???"  Zoe and Blueberry yelled in unison to me last night.

And they have a point--exciting things are happening in the Lilypad.

For one thing, there are Rabbits living here.  That's not at all new, of course, but it is always worth remembering and making a point of, because Rabbits living in your house is always both exciting and newsworthy.  The Double Buns of the Rabbit Room agree that They are not getting nearly enough attention of late.

Running closely behind in the Complaint Department are Certain Cats, who also live in the Lilypad and who frequent the Rabbit Room.  There has been a New Addition to the Lilypad who has gotten virtually NO AIR TIME ON THIS BLOG!  He had a fairly lame movie a couple of weeks ago on an edition of Flip Friday, and then....NOTHING!

"What's with that?" Toby the Mini-now-not-so-mini Cat said to me about that particular situation.  And, he does have a point.  What IS with that?

Today, then, let's dedicate this post to the Forlorn and Obviously Long Forgotten Mammalian Members of the Lilypad, and then on Wednesday, we will pop back to Italy.

 LILLY!!!  So close you can see how dirty her little nose is.  Hmmmm.

 Miss Emmie is in constant motion but has a minute to thank all her loyal fans.  

She knows you're out there!!

That cat can jump!!  He's so fast, he is only a blur.  

Daisy couldn't look more annoyed with you than she does right now.  

Fortunately, Toby's going easy on you.

OK, so, now that you've caught up with what's going on in the Lilypad, we should be ready for more Italy next week.

Don't you feel better though?  They thought you would. 

Next Monday at This Time...

It is hard to believe, but next Monday at this time, I will be preparing to leave for Italy the very next day. That means that a week from tomorrow, I will actually be FLYING TO ITALY!!!

It's been a long time since my mom told me she was going to go to Italy and asked me to go, too. It seemed so far in the future for so long that it didn't seem like a real thing that I would actually do.

But now, the time approaches. I don't feel ready at all! But then, I also feel very ready. It's a strange feeling. I guess I feel ready to have an adventure, ready to experience new things, ready to be somewhere else for awhile. But, being away from home is always weird. I am used to my routines of home and work, used to the people I see everyday, and most of all, I am used to having 2 Rabbits, 4 cats, and the Chick always with me. This will be the longest time all of us have ever been apart.

Therein lies any apprehension I feel. The separation will be uncomfortable, to say the least.

I mean, look at these faces!!

I mean, really.  WHO WOULDN'T MISS THOSE FACES???

I will be missing those faces for 3 whole weeks!  GOOD GRIEF!!!

Flip Friday

Last week, you got a great Rabbit Movie for Flip Friday that starred Zoe's terribly cute lips.

A couple of weeks before that, you were there FIRSTHAND, as Blueberry tried to dig Her way to China or somewhere.

Now, this week, you are probably thinking that another Rabbit Movie would be nice. 

The thing is, though, that it is that time of year.

(That time = both of the Girls are molting.)

When They are molting, they prefer being kept out of the public eye.

(Well, how would you feel if you were molting and someone was following you around trying to make a movie of you in which your fur looked....substandard?  Rabbits are perfectionists.  They don't have time to fool around with movies that don't show Them at Their Absolute Best.)

The Girls' suggestion, then, was a Cat Movie.  Zoe said to Toby and Daisy, who were nearby and not doing Anything Important, which as Blueberry pointed out, is totally Typical of cats, "Do something cute, will you?  We need a movie for Flip Friday, and it's not going to be of Us. Get Lilly to help you if you want."

Flip Friday

If you are a Rabbit here at the Lilypad, part of the bane of your existence is this fact:  cats somehow share your house.  People also share your house, of course (or humans, as they are more aptly called), but at least they occasionally do Important Things like fill the Salad Bowl, the Crunchy Dish, and the Hay Box.

Also, they sometimes order Willow Balls.

Though, not in recent memory.

"Humans are so ridiculous."

The point of saying this is that, though we all know who are the Most Important Residents of the Lilypad, it is sometimes the case that cats wrongly receive the Attention that only Rabbits deserve.

"Cats are so ridiculous."

Also, sometimes, it happens that humans, too, think they are cooler than Rabbits because they can go outside and have jobs in which they get a lunch hour that allows them to walk to the Erie Art Museum and see some awesome music.  

Of course if you were a Rabbit in this house, you would not be impressed by going outside, having a job, or going for a walk.  Of course, Rabbits do support the concept of a Lunch Hour, and They also support Art and Music such as you can see here by our favorite local band, the Heliotropes:

So there you have it-- a glimpse into the Most Terrible Life of Rabbits at the Lilypad for Whom Life is Most Certainly Terrible.

Flip Friday: Daisy Edition

FRESH CAT IN THE HOUSE!!!!!

And, you will be pleased to know that she is a HAM!  She loves to have her picture taken.  She loves to be in movies.  She has not been here yet a week, and this is already what we know.

So far, Daisy spends her days in the Rabbit Room.  She sleeps in their window.  She looks around.  She sniffs her bunnies.  She cleans her bunnies.

In her movie debut, then, please welcome DAISY, the Lilypad's FRESHEST CAT!!!

Here We Go Again!

You're not going to believe this!!!

For 13 years, we Lilypadders rolled with at least four (4) cats.  Sometimes more.

We began with Jobie and Rosie, essentially.  They were the Chick's cats before we met.  We added Ernie and Scottie to that mix pretty quickly.  Many years passed before we added Miss Emmie, but once she showed up in the yard with her irresistible seafoam green peepers,  there were five.

Five.  That was a lot.  Sometimes, it felt like a zoo, but other times, we hardly noticed unless it was time for them to strap on their feedbags, as it were.

Then Miss Zoe popped in (She really deserves Her own sentence, yes?)

Ernie packed up for Sparkle Pond about 5 years ago, leaving us with four cats again.  Then Jobie left and we were down to three, but not for long before Lilly came.  Then Toby.

Next, Blueberry came to stay.  (Same as above-- Rabbits need Their Own Sentences!!)

Then a couple of months ago Rosie moved on to Sparkle Pond and last week, Scottie.

We have a lot of turnover!

And, then, there were three.  Plus two Rabbits.

The Chick hates odd numbers.  But we quickly adjusted to just the three.  Things were Calm.  Things seemed a lot less like a zoo and a lot more like, well....a house with a few Animals.

But then, Sunday morning, the Chick said to me, "So, I have to tell you.  I looked at (our friend) Eileen's website for Orphan Angels and I think there's a cat there who needs us."  As it turned out, she had looked at the Orphan Angels' site a few weeks ago before Scottie got so ill, and then forgot all about it when he started doing so poorly.  The rest of us in the Lilypad didn't know that the Chick had already chosen our next cat.
  
(A side note:  that last sentence was foreshadowing...)

But on Sunday morning, she remembered.  And she couldn't stop thinking about this cat.

She texted Friend Eileen who agreed to meet us at noon on Sunday at Orphan Angels, which is her Awesomely Amazing free range Cat Store.  There are two Giant Rabbits there as well, but since it's mostly cats, we call it a cat store.  Anyhow, it is a wonderful place.  We were both excited and nervous to meet this new cat, whose current name was "Ditto."

We already had a new name picked in honor of Scottie (as his real name was F. Scott Fitzgerald, we chose a name from The Great Gatsby) and also in honor of Rosie (we had Rosie, now Lilly, and the new name was also a flower-related name).

Daisy.

Though she was very shy, Daisy was immediately responsive to attention (who isn't, right?).  The second we walked into the room, she looked right at the Chick.  When I began to pet her, she purred and ran to her food dish to eat.  Both good signs.  We packed her up and brought her home.

And that was that.

INTRODUCING.... DAISY!!!!

She is settling in nicely.  

More to come on Daisy later in the week.  We'll see how she feels about Flip Friday.....
